International Conference – Participatory Budgeting in Asia and Europe – Key Challenges of Participation

Vom 17. bis 19. August 2009 findet im chinesischen Hangzhou eine internationale Konferenz zum Thema Bürgerbeteiligung am Haushalt statt. Die Konferenz wird von der Zhejiang Universität in Kooperation mit der Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung und dem Centre Marc Bloch durchgeführt.

Folgende Fragen will die Konferenz beantworten/diskutieren:

· What are the conditions of implementation for participatory budgeting institutions in Europe and Asia (mainly China)?

· What forms of participatory budgeting exist and what are their outcomes?

· What are the aims of these procedures, and what are their advantages and challenges?

· How is it possible to organize a high quality discussion and decision-making process?

· What are the instruments that can improve the overall efficiency of the process?

Dazu sind neben den chinesischen Gastgebern Vortragende aus aller Welt eingeladen, um über ihre Erfahrungen im Bereich Participatory Budgeting zu sprechen. Es werden unter anderem Beispiele aus Indonesien, Japan, Indien, Korea, Thailand, Spanien, Italien, Polen und Deutschland vorgestellt.
